Sarnia London Wallaceburg

 Who Benefits - 2009

In 2009, proceeds will benefit Goodwill Industries Essex Kent Lambton and its establishment of an attended donation drive-thru centre in Wallaceburg.  This donation centre allows Goodwill to receive higher quality goods, while dramatically decreasing processing times and operating costs.  These donated goods get onto the shelves for purchase more quickly, allowing the money obtained from the retail sale to go back into the Goodwill’s employment training and counseling programs.  These programs provide those with employment barriers the job skills and training they need to find and keep work.

Goodwill Life Cycle

Funds raised at the Sarnia event will also benefit Goodwill Industries Essex Kent Lambton .  The funds are going towards the establishment of an attended donation drive-thru centre to collect gently used clothing and household items. The revenue from their sale will fund employment and training programs.

Proceeds from the London Race to Erase will benefit the London Food Bank.  This organization helps individuals in the area who are experiencing difficulty securing food for themselves and their families.  Last year, the London Food Bank helped an average of 2,500 families per month, with 41% of food distributed to feed children and youth.  However, in 2009, employees and volunteers have seen an increase in families visiting the Food Bank, with the number of those requiring assistance rising to 3,000 per month.  Dollars raised will go toward the much-needed services that the Food Bank offers to those in need in the community.
